Gon is a boy who lives with his uncle Mito on Whale Island. Since he was a little boy, he had always thought that his parents were dead and he only has his uncle left. However, one day he discovers that his father is alive and is one of the best hunters in the world. His day to day life is to search for treasures, find exotic beasts and chase anyone in the world. In Gon's eyes, his father is living a real dream. The boy, shocked by the words of his father's former apprentice, decides he wants to follow in his footsteps, leave home and take the hunter's exam. So, he begins to train to overcome all the challenges that are put in front of him in order to survive and achieve the coveted title that identifies him as a hunter. Luckily for him, he will not be alone. During the exam, Gon meets three participants with whom he forges a strong friendship: Kurapika, Leorio and Killua Zoldyck. The youngsters call themselves Hunter X Hunter and together, with the goal always in mind, they will live a multitude of adventures that will bring them, little by little, closer to their dream.
