Two years have passed since young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) saved the universe from a decisive battle between two warring races of robotic aliens. Despite his extreme heroics, Sam is still a normal teenager with the everyday worries of preparing for college, leaving behind his girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox), and separating from his parents for the first time. Sam's goal is to lead a normal college life, but to do so, he must forget his destiny. While Sam has done his best to put the Mission City conflict behind him and return to his daily routine, the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons, although a super-secret incident, has brought about many changes. Sector 7 has been disbanded and Agent Simmons (John Turturro), fired. In his place, a new agency, NEST, has been created. Employing experienced field commanders like Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and Epps (Tyrese Gibson), NEST aims to work side-by-side with the Autobots to avoid another deadly confrontation with the Decepticons.
