The film tells the story of Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale, The Dark Knight: The Legend Reborn, The Flowers of War), a very intelligent man who, along with his attractive partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams, Man of Steel, Coup de Force) is forced by an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper, The Upside of Things, Crossroads) to work on a complicated and dangerous case: the agent pushes them into a world full of mobsters located in New Jersey where they must fulfill a mission. There, they will meet Carmine Polito (Jeremy Renner, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, The Bourne Legacy), a passionate politician who finds himself in a delicate situation related to some swindlers. Meanwhile, Irving's unpredictable wife (Jennifer Lawrence, The House at the End of the Street, The Hunger Games) may not be as innocent as her husband thought.
