Divergent, a film based on the first book of the "Divergent" saga by Veronica Roth, presents us with a society that maintains peace and functions thanks to its division into five factions: Truth, Abnegation, Daring, Cordiality and Erudition. When they turn sixteen, all the young people of the city take tests and decide to which faction they want to belong according to the virtue they possess. However, for Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) this is not so easy since she is not like the others, she is divergent, and could belong to more than one faction but no one must know. That's why Beatrice surprises everyone when she chooses the faction she wants to belong to: Daring. In her new faction Beatrice, who will now be known as Tris, will make new friends, meet Four (Theo James) and discover that scholar Jeanine Matthews (Kate Winslet) has a plan to eliminate all the divergents in the city. Tris and Four will try to discover what makes the Divergent so dangerous before it's too late.
