When the first Prototype was released, it arrived in stores surrounded by enormous expectations. It was one of the first superhero sandboxes to emerge on the heels of the success of 2007's remarkable Crackdown, and it was released in 2009 at almost the same time as inFamous, its other major contender. The winner was clearly Sucker Punch's PlayStation 3 exclusive, but in many circles the approach of Activision's title developed by Radical Entertainment was very pleasing.

In 3DJuegos we liked Alex Mercer's adventure, although we point out that it could have been much better if it had had a refined control, with a more elaborate plot and some order within its totally exaggerated chaos of action and mutant powers. This did not prevent the product from enjoying good sales and Activision encouraged the Canadian team to develop a second part.
