The fearsome President Snow (Donald Sutherland, The Best Offer) has a Machiavellian plan to take revenge after the ridicule suffered by the Capitol with the victory of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence, X-Men: First Generation 2) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson, Red Dawn) in the 74th Hunger Games: organize a special edition of this particular Battle Royale -which only happens once every 25 years- that will feature winners from previous years. And, of course, Katniss is the first to be chosen as the only female laureate from District 12.... Although Peeta, her childhood bread boy, also decides to join her and put his life on the line once again.

Despite appearances, the relationship between Katniss and Peeta, the winners who managed to seduce all of Panem by pretending to be lovers at the Games, is strained. They've barely spoken since they outlasted the likes of Cato and Glimmer, and Katniss is trying to figure out how she really feels about her partner as she struggles between her love and that of Gale (Liam Hemsworth, The Mercenaries 2), who kissed her when she arrived back in poverty-stricken District 12. But her troubles have only just begun and her life and that of her family begins to be in danger after Snow shows up at her house and threatens her if she doesn't convince all of Panem that her suicide attempt in the last issue was due to her true love for Peeta and not a challenge to the dictatorship imposed by the Capitol.
